Welcome to the Holidays!!! And Eye Candy!!!

Look at all this wonderful and useful Eye Candy!!!!  Frogs and dishes to hold all your sewing implements, paint brushes, pen and pencils or anything that your find to be housed in these wonderful finds.  More listed in my Etsy Shop.

I just love these floral frogs and dishes.  Putting them together is as fun as collecting them.

As for their history-that is a little of a mystery.  They came into existence in the 14th century in Japan.  They were used to assist with floral arranging.  There are some sources that they were brought into existence in the 16th century in Europe.  But Japan was the starting point for these glass gems.  There is no documentation as to why they are called frogs.  There are some recerences to it could possibly be because they sit in water....Most frogs are not marked by a year prior to the late 1870.  Frogs come in all kinds of materials.  Mostly glass, but they can be made out of ceramics, there are metal frogs too.  Some of the frogs are figurines and they add to the floral decoaration.  No matter how they came up with the name-it is also quite the mystery on how they moved from floral arranging to holding implements.   Possibly a busy floral arranger used them to put their pencile or even their brushes and it took off.  No matter what, when or how-these pieces are always a unique addition to any sewing nest.

Well-off to wrangle trim and linen.  Hope you have a wonderful December and may you say Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit on the first to ensure good luck for the month....

More listings and yes two blogs in one day

I need to blog more-it is hard when you are a one man (woman) band.  Things are getting geared up for University classes for my son, work trips for me, teaching (finally!) and coming up with new colors and items for my Etsy shop and consumer shows.

Here are a few new things added to the shop-

There are new in unique scissor fobs

Needle minders

Fabric folding pin keeps-outside folded

Inside of the fabric pin keep

Americana Froth is back

Honey Whiskey in all kinds of counts.  This color is flying out the door.  I so love each piece when I dye it.  It is one of the more joyful colors to dye.

I have more colors in trim-Cherry Pit Brown, Honey Whiskey in chenille-soon to be listed in Mini Pom Pom.  Always trying to enable your creativity and bring joy through design and color.

I appreciate your support!  Ebeth

Busy here in the Studio

I have a wonderful friend who had this amazing primitive cubby hole box.  She had stitched a Blackbird Designs piece to put in the box.  Well-it turned out a little too big and she really wanted something more interesting than a pin pillow....this is where I entered the picture-Box Lid!

Here is a picture of the piece laying on top of the box.

A picture of the entire box with the piece laying over it.

The box with the piece in its place as a lid for the cubby.

This was so fun to do.  I used foam core instead of matte board so that the lip of the insert on the back would hold the piece in place.  I also used the foam core for the stitched part so that I could pin mount the chenille/ribbon trim.  I played around with sewing it on (and I do not glue!), so I used silk brass pins and pinned the trim in place.

I am finishing a couple more pieces for my friend then this wonderful piece and the other pieces will wing their way back home.

It was a true honor to come up with an interesting and different finish for this piece.  I love the box-I am wondering if she would miss it if it did not make it back to her....Ummmm yep-I think she would.

I took pictures of the process.  I am working on transfering the pictures over and doing a quick tutorial on how to finish a flat finish lip lid.  It is so easy and fun-yes finishing can be fun.  I hope to have it in the next couple of days.  Just need those extra hours to the day.
Thanks for visiting my blog.  Now off to dye and create.

I am still here.....

"Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated'

Will have a live on my Facebook explaining in the next day or so....(ask to join this group-industry announcements and mild entertainment happens in this small area of cyberland....) It is nothing horrible-just comments made that made it sound like I am not producing product anymore....

Actually this the 'quote'
Twain wrote a response, part of which made it into the article that ran in the Journal on June 2, 1897:

Mark Twain was undecided whether to be more amused or annoyed when a Journal representative informed him today of the report in New York that he was dying in poverty in London ... The great humorist, while not perhaps very robust, is in the best of health. He said: ‘I can understand perfectly how the report of my illness got about, I have even heard on good authority that I was dead. James Ross Clemens, a cousin of mine, was seriously ill two or three weeks ago in London, but is well now. The report of my illness grew out of his illness. The report of my death was an exaggeration.’

As like Mark Twain-there is some information that has been misinturpreted-
I guess that is what happens when one lives in one's studio and does not come up for air. I will be doing a live in the next day to explain-and show off a couple of new things going on here in Cauldron land....I want to thank everyone that was concerned that I was not dyeing or designing anymore....BWWWAAAAA you are stuck with me for a little longer.

Have a great week.....

A tour of new Listings and more information.....

Been busy dyeing and adding new designer's charts in my Etsy.  It is always a new adventure each day to accomplish all that needs to be done.

I will be attending Gallaria 2021 Cathy at Inspired Needle 630-243-9620 can help you with signing up for this wonderful retail event.  Dates September 22-25, 2021 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in St. Charles Missouri.  This is an exciting event with vendors from all over.  Hope to see you there.  I am busy collecting trims, dyeing velvet, linen and more.

On to new listings.  I am always looking for new things to add to my Etsy - this moment I have picked up some new designers and some others that have appeared in my shop before-here is a smathering of some of these new listings.

Wonderful Americana pattern from BlackBird Designs.  Barb and Alama always knock the ball out of the park with their designs and adorable finishing ideas.

These quick but elegant designs from JBW Designs are wonderful gift stitches.  These little pamplets have the pattern and great finishing ideas.

Romina has been busy in Italy-these are two of her new items.  Red and Blue is totally adorable and comes with the charm to attach to the sampler.

Long May it Wave is another classic from Dutch Treat Designs.  This chart has been in my Etsy before and I just got more.  It can be stitched on paper or linen.  Claudia always has a history with her Reproductions/Adaptations.  A great addition to your Americana collection.

Hoffman has been busy reprinting OOP The Prairie Schooler charts.  We are so lucky that they have the rights to reproduce these out of print charts.  The Prairie Schooler charts are always a delight to stitch and hang on your walls.

Americana Froth is back!!!!  It is a wonderful neutral color that has subtle molded coloring.  A great pick to stitch Blackbird Design samplers on or other Reproduction samplers.

A few wooden pieces by MTV are in my Etsy-these unique pieces are from Italy and a delightful addition to any work basket.

Tiny but useful.  This 3.5 x 3.5 wooden measuring tray is a great ort tray or scissor holder.  This tray is offered by Dames of the Needle-with the help of a great friend.

Last but not least Mahala Barber is an Adam and Eve reproduction from Fox and the Rabbit from down under.

As you can see there is a wide range of designs and designers.  More linen, trims, velvet and other surprises are being listed almost daily.

I truly appreciate your support and always enjoy seeing your newest works in progress.  I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July and enjoy the Summer moments.

Well-I am off to pull orders and dye-Hugs Ebeth

I still have had time to create a couple more colors.  Blues-that is one that I do not do often.  So we have two new Blues-Summer Morning and No Clouds....They are listed in my Etsy-

Here are the colors-enjoy.

Summer Morning

No Clouds

A Year in Costumes.....

Well-I finally got to sit down and finish Number 4 in the series.  I need more hours in the day-I hope you love this one as much as I do.  I like that the costume is a rain mack and red rubbers for splashing in the puddles.  If you cannot tell red is one of my favorite colors and this costume has quite a bit of red.

I am finishing up with packaging the charts and they will be hoofing it to Hoffman Dist. Co. over the weekend.  You can purchase from my Etsy if your local needlework shop does not carry the charts.

Number 5 is being worked on.....hopefully it will be out in a couple weeks.  This is so fun have a focus and a series.

I have been busy with the dye bath too....Cosmic Platinum is a hot new color-hopefully I will be getting more base in the next couple weeks and Alchemy will be coming out again.

Here is Cosmic Platinum in 16 count Aida

Also Cosmic Platinum 40 count....there is 32 count and 36 count listed too.

Working on more new colors-of course it is spring-so color starts peaking out after the rains and the warmer weather.  It is wonderous to see the flowers starting to bloom.  It is also so magical to see the Hummingbirds starting to set up nests.  I must confess, I do not have the spider webs removed from the outside of my house.  I do this so the Hummingbirds will come and get them and use the webs for their nests.  It is like small fairies flying up to my bedroom window while they steal away with the spider's web.  I love stitching in the morning before I get my day started and I see the shadow of the Hummingbirds coming up to hunt and gather the webs.....

Well, I am off to finish dye schedule....have a great day and thank you again for your support.
