amazing things in everyday life

This is the second rainbow on a clear day that Miguel and I have seen in less than a week.  I will try to get the other pictures from him and post them.  The one we saw last week was upside down.  It was really cool.  It shows how much humidity there is in the air if you an have rainbows in clear weather.  The humidity is really heavy, but still the temps are not as high as they could be.

Mean while....I am still on the hunt for amazing frogs, depression glass and other neat items that can be used in your sewing rooms and other places in your home and offices to help organize yourself and to add a bit of uniqueness to your space.

These two finds flew out the door today-

I was quite sad to see both of these go.  They were very unique and I was thrilled to find them.  But I know they are going to wonderful new homes.  I love the fact that these containers are large enough for knitting needles.  I hope that they bring joy to their new owners.

I am on the look out for more goodies and will be posting them in my Etsy shop and on my Facebook this week.

Well I am off to kick back and stitch on a new design.  I hope to be finished with it this week.  I will show peak pictures this week.  I have two Halloween pieces coming out in the next week or so....and a couple more items up my sleeves....or rather off my needles.

Have a wonderful day and please enjoy the magical moments that happen to you in everyday life.

Vintage lovelies to add to your sewing rooms....

I am working on enabling everyone with my new vintage obsession.  I am really excited about the glass frogs and the unique containers that I am pairing them up with.

Here is a picture of my latest grouping.  Several of these items have already sold.  Visit my Etsy shop of my Facebook page for my sales.

These three adorable frogs with containers are listed on my Etsy shop.

Ceramic and glass frogs have been used for complicated floral arranging since the 16th century.  Most frogs were not marked by the maker till after the 1870's before it became possible to patent or trademark glassware.  Frogs come in all kids of materials-glass, ceramic, metal and plastic.

Frogs can be as simple as round with large or small holes to elaborate pieces of glass work or ceramics that have figurines on them.  The term "frog" was first documented as in Random House Dictionary in 1968 as a term for a holder of flower stems in flower arranging. The origin of the use term in flower arrange remains a mystery.  Other terms used for frogs are flower blocks, flower bricks, flower holders and floral arrangers.

There is also not a specific point in time that can be pin pointed as to when 'frogs' were used outside of the floral arranging arena and moved for use to store scissors, pens, rug hooks, paint brushes and other utensils.

As always thank you for your support and I look forward to enabling your stash enhancement and bringing you more unique sewing accessories.

Working on new charts....

Working away this Sunday morning on new charts...yes fall is now on the menu.

One would think when you are in the throws of Summer you would not even want to think of Fall.  Well as life would have it here in the south they feel the necessity to start school in July and move fall into August.  Makes perfect sense to have children go to school and have all the out door activities happening in the dog days of summer.  But-I am digressing....Soon this ridiculous schedule will not be controlling our lives.  It will be a wild a woolly year here with Miguel graduating in 2018 (with luck and a prayer ;)) and Isa graduating from University also.  Then it will be getting Miguel through University, which their schedule is much easier to navigate.  But let us not wish our lives away....

Here is a sneak peak of one of the pieces that will be stitched soon....

Well, I am off to chart some more-I have two more projects to get off my plate today and then who knows....I may take a few moments and act like a normal person...and not work the whole day.

Hugs and I appreciate all of your support.  Ebeth

All pre-orders will be shipped this weekend and the rest of the kits have been listed on my Etsy shop.

Have a great rest of your weekend.  I am off to relax for a few moments before I jump into my next project....Hugs Ebeth

More oldies but goodies....

As I am working on my newest silhouette fall design I thought I would show off its companions.  I love the challenge of designing with one color in silhouette. (But one can see that I did add a few more colors to the last companion....one can always break the rules....)   As a designer it is always fun to challenge yourself.  I find it immensely satisfying to be able to convey detail while having my 'hands' tied in presenting my graphics.

To wet your appetite for the new witchy design to be released this fall....I present the following....

Starry Witch
Stitched on 30 count linen Carrot by Weeks Dye Works using Onyx by Weeks Dye Works

Sorta Kinda not happy about not being a Mermaid

Nantucket Beach

Being a land locked water baby is hard.  That is one of the biggest things I miss about the coast of Virginia and North Carolina.  Atlanta has its own offerings, but not as exciting as the more northern sister states.

I do wonder what kind of magical life it would be like to live in the ocean.  Just think of all the creatures big and small that you could be in awe with.  How wonderful it would be to glide though the ocean and seeing formations and sunken treasures not seen by anyone in centuries.

Even though I love the beach, I cannot imagine what it would have been like to have worn woolen clothing and to have been hauled into the ocean via a bath house.  I think just getting dressed to go into the water would have worn me out.

I do hope you are having a wonderful 4th and I leave you with a few more coastal images.  Close your eyes and if you listen very hard you can hear the methodical rhythm of the ocean lapping at the sands of the coast.

As always, thank you for sharing your time and support.  I hope that have enjoyed perusing through my nautical designs.

Americana Week-Happy 4th of July

Having grown up 45 minutes away from Williamsburg and Norfolk Virginia I have a strong longing for all things Colonial.  It seems to be in my blood.  As I posted earlier this week my 'new' home is quite different than anywhere else I have lived.

I am starting to move toward more muted colors with what I call mermaid turquoise as a base for everything....but that is for another blog posting.

This week I will be posting all of my Americana designs old and new.  As most of you that follow me know-I love hornbooks.  This small hornbook is a great way to hold your needles.  The case helps you keep the hornbook handy.  They can be used together or separately.  The needle case can be adjusted to hold your favorite scissors instead of the hornbook.

Enjoy!  Have a wonderfully creative day.  Take a moment and relax and enjoy the moment.

I am off to create....stay tuned more to come.

The love of Scots

Well, I started off going to wish my friends from the north of me in Canada a Happy Canada day....

After going through my pictures and designs....alas no Canadian images.  So, I am off to my other love-Scottish Samplers and Scots.  I love a good Scottish brogue and if any of you follow me on Facebook you know my love of any man in a kilt....

So in the new habit of posting often, I decided to pull out one of my first designs and one of my first loves-Scottish Samplers.  Red is my favorite color and I am enamored with all the reds, greens and golds they use in their samplers.

Well, I do not mean to insult my Canadian friends-I cannot wait to one day drink milk from a bag, eat as many ketchup potato chips that I can stand and pour maple syrup over everything that does not move.

Take care my dear friends from the north and enjoy your day.
